
DR. ABDUL SAMED TANKO

Born some 50 years ago to ALHAJI TANKO IDDRISU and HAJIA FULERA SALIFU, all from Salaga in the Northern Region of Ghana, Dr. Tanko attended Salaga Secondary School and then proceeded to Cuba after his “O” Levels in 1983 on scholarship where he had his BSc and Doctor of Medicine degrees in 1993.
After his internship in Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, he proceeded to Germany for his specialization in cardiovascular medicine. Posted to the NATIONAL CARDIOTHORACIC CENTRE upon return in 2004, Dr. Tanko worked for 2 years and then went for his Post Graduate Diploma and MSc. in Clinical Cardiology at Imperial College of Medicine, University of London, UK.
Dr. Tanko is a member of the European Society of Cardiology and American College of Cardiology. He also fluent in French, Spanish and German in addition to English Language.
He is currently the head of the Cardiology Unit of the National Cardiothoracic Centre of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
